01 · BEFORE THE TURNING POINT
When everything looks right.
Family, children, career, life in California. The outer structure holds — yet more and more decisions are made not because “I want this” but because that’s how it’s done, that’s what’s right, that’s what suits others.
In the book Gennady describes this period as drifting with the current, eyes closed: there is a choice, but it doesn’t feel like his own.
Sometimes a crisis begins not when everything falls apart, but when everything is in its place — except you.
02 · AGE 45
Life stopped giving energy.
Lost interest began to show up as stress and a heavy state of mind. Gennady writes that this became his starting point: he didn’t want to get up in the morning, and the familiar landmarks no longer gave answers.
Almost at the same time his relationships changed, his father passed away, his career declined, and then he lost his job. The old version of life could no longer hold its former shape.
Not “how do I get everything back?” but “why did I live this way at all?”
03 · THE SEARCH
“Who is Gennady?”
Instead of trying to fix his state quickly, questions appeared: why am I here, what is my calling, what are my talents, fears and blocks, why do I make the decisions I make?
A period of intense reading, videos, self-observation and experiments began. He worked on his body, relationships, gratitude and attention to his state, testing ideas not in theory but in his own life.
The path stopped being a search for the right formula. It became an exploration of self.
04 · A NEW LOGIC
Not struggle. Curiosity.
One of the author’s central observations: the path to awareness does not happen at the snap of a finger. It is long and individual. But moving through curiosity feels different from living through constant struggle.
This brings a different lens: not forcing yourself to be “right,” but noticing what truly brings you alive, what sparks curiosity, where energy appears.
“Everyone has their own individual path in the search for themselves.”
05 · A TURN IN THE ROUTE
Allowing yourself to live differently.
In 2019 a business trip to Brazil became a symbolic turning point for Gennady. New relationships, another culture, distance, language, travel — all of it broke the familiar script and demanded acting outside the usual pattern.
He describes this period as the moment when it became especially clear: before, he had often adapted to others. Now the main experiment became the ability to openly live out his own choices.
Not escaping the old life. But no longer repeating it automatically.
06 · “THE PATH TO MYSELF”
Not the finale. A marked point.
This book grew not from the position of someone who has “figured it all out,” but from a wish to gather observations along the way. That is why it is full of personal examples, questions, contradictions and practical notes.
The author says it plainly: the path continues. That is exactly why the book works more as an invitation to your own exploration than as instructions to live the way he does.
A good book about yourself does not end with an answer. It leaves the reader with a more precise question.
